I think through images and sensations; I try to bring scenes. I am interested in placing them alongside one another and observe what emerges from the encounter between them. This is where I begin: in this space of contact, of friction. Desire bends the body and sets it in motion.
Taking as its starting point a phrase by Steve Paxton — “Improvisation is a word for something that cannot keep a name” — the project brings together sculpture, writing, and movement as a way of investigating and testing new forms of listening across these practices. It is a way of thinking through the ways bodies lean, twist, and shift as they move towards one another, affecting and being affected, and through the ways space, objects, and materials enter into these encounters.
